A second-generation commercial painter, George Mantikas has been in the painting business for over 40 years; founding Kaz Painting Contractors, Inc. in 1984

George’s father was a bridge painter on the East Coast before starting his own company in California. In the late 1950s, he started bidding on government painting contracts (mostly military bases) throughout the Western United States and Hawaii. In the 1970s George started working weekends with his father, learning the trade, it was only a few years until George was handling his own painting projects, and running job sites.

In 1984, George struck out on his own and started his own painting company, Kaz Painting Contractors, Inc.

From painting grain silos and chemical tanks to satellite arrays and industrial warehouses, George has coated just about any surface you can think of including high-rise buildings.

Some notable painting contracts include the coating of “Herman The German” in the Port of Los Angeles (at the time it was the world’s largest floating crane; seized from Germany during World War 2), and also painting the Angels Gate Lighthouse at the mouth of the Port of Los Angeles.

George prides himself on not compromising on workmanship over budget or time constraints.
